Food waste, particularly in developed countries, has significant negative impacts on global issues such as hunger, the economy, and global warming. Addressing common causes of food waste such as purchasing food too early and lack of knowledge on utilizing overripe fruit.
BananaBox aims to promote awareness and reduce wastage. By training an algorithm on a large dataset of banana images, the BananaBox accurately identifies the ripeness of bananas and recommends suitable recipes. The system combines tangible hardware, digital application, and interactive feedback to engage users.
